Acquiring wisdom, acquiring knowledge

I read a lot, at least I try to. It involves books, blogs, articles, magazine features, social media posts and everything about and between. These are not random but aligned to a eclectic range of interests. But the underlying theme is to know more, understand more, realize the underlying patterns, finding the connections between multiple domains and more often than not, just satisfying some curiosity about some trivia.

Lately, I have been more driven and enthused by the idea and self directed enquiry about whether the knowledge I am gaining is helping me get better, think better, augment my mental models, simply, is it providing me wisdom to deal with myriad situations I face in life? Am I getting better at relationships, maintaining emotional stability, increasing emotional quotient, and using the readings to live better, reason better and finding my blind spots? And ever since the germ of this idea has taken place, it has altered the way I am reading. I am trying to read slow, deliberately, making notes, sometimes rereading, sometimes reading more about that subject. It is not making sense for me anymore to read a lot without getting a lot. While the enquiry is still on, I believe this is going to give me an edge in the way I read and consume information and process it.
